The Story About How The Two Young Men Chose Their Wives.

Two young men proposed to two girls to become their wives. One of them said: “I can offer only my heart for the girl who will share my difficult path with me.” The other one said: “I can offer a huge palace in which I want to share the joys of life with my future wife.”

One of the girls answered after thinking for a while: “The heart which you are offering is too small for me. It can be placed on my palm, but I should enter the palace myself and feel the space and light which will be able to bring happiness. In this palace there will be a lot of light and space, hence, a lot of happiness.”

The young man, who offered the palace, took the beautiful girl by her hand and said: “Your beauty is worth the grandeur of my palace.” And he brought the girl there.

The second girl gave her hand to the one who could offer only his heart and she said quietly: “There isn’t anything warmer and cosier than a human heart. Even the biggest palace won’t compare with the sizes of a human heart.” And the girl followed a difficult path with the one whom she wished to share her happiness with.

It was not an easy path. They had a lot of troubles and trials on their way, but it was always calm and warm in her beloved man’s heart and the feeling of happiness never left her. There was always a space in that small heart. It became huge from the Love it radiated on everyone. At the end of their way, on the top of the mountain which was hiding behind the clouds, they saw such sunshine, they felt such warmth, they felt such omnipresent Love that they understood what great happiness you can experience if you follow your heart.

The beautiful girl that had chosen a rich palace soon understood that no matter how big the palace was, it had limits. The palace started reminding the beautiful golden cage in which it was hard to breathe and sing. She looked from the windows, rushed amongst the columns but she didn’t find the way out. Everything oppressed her there but she knew that outside there was SOMETHING invisible but at the same time very beautiful. No grandeur of the palace could be compared with that invisible shining. The beauty understood that she could never experience that remote happiness. She did not understand where that happiness came from. She became very sad and sadness made her heart stop beating. And the beautiful girl died from sorrow in the beautiful cage she had chosen herself.

People have forgotten that they are birds. People have forgotten that they can fly. People have forgotten that there are endless spaces where you can never drown.

People have forgotten that to follow your happiness, you should follow a long and difficult path. And that is the sense of the human life.
